Cenote Vaca Ha

Location: 20.27066, -87.48050 (Yucatán, Mexico)

For side mount divers, there is an excellent section of cave by swimming 180 m and entering into a phreatic tube area. Take the first jump to the right after entering the phreatic fracture passageway.

The cave is completely flooded, with fresh water over salt water, about 8 km from the coast. It carries the water draining from Cenote Carwash towards the south and east, along dissolved fractures and joints. The halocline is at 65 ft. Above it, the walls and ceilings are chestnut-coloured; below it, they are white. Deep silt and calcite raft flakes cover the floor of most passages: only trained divers with proper equipment and technique should enter this fragile cave.
